East Tennessee State University Athletics Vision Statement

East Tennessee State University department of athletics will be recognized nationally as a program of excellence through its broad-based athletic and academic success at the Division I level.

Mission Statement

The department of athletics will assist the university in becoming the best regional university in the country by developing a culture of excellence and creating a forum for celebrating the university's advancement, enhancing its image with prospective students and building relationships and pride among its students, faculty, alumni, and community.

The department of athletics strives for excellence as it develops the leadership capabilities of student-athletes in an environment that unites achievement in intercollegiate athletics competition with academic excellence, sportsmanship, and community service within the educational and social environment of East Tennessee State University.

Core Values

E - Excellence and Education: We believe that no goal exceeds the mandate to educate and graduate the student-athlete and that we are first and foremost educators. We believe in a culture of excellence where each individual is expected to adopt a results-oriented proactive work ethic.
T - Teamwork and Trust: We value each member of our athletics family and understand the importance of teamwork and treating each individual honestly with dignity and respect. We believe in an environment of mutual trust. Making commitments generates hope and keeping commitments generates trust, and with trust comes benefit of the doubt. We believe in helping each other grow professionally.
S - Success: We value winning and achievement in athletics, academics, and personal and professional development while complying within the rules and regulations of the NCAA.
U - Understanding: We value and respect diversity of people and thought and are committed to providing an environment where all student-athletes and staff are free from harassment and intimidation.
