Nathan Barger enters his second year as Assistant Athletic Trainer. Prior to becoming an Assistant Athletic Trainer, he served as a graduate assistant athletic trainer for ETSU. During his tenure as a graduate assistant, Nathan worked with the football, track and field, and cross-country programs. 

Nathan serves as the primary athletic trainer for football while overseeing responsibilities for track and field. He is a licensed athletic trainer in the state of Tennessee and is certified in CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer. 

He graduated with a Master’s Degree in Exercise Physiology and Performance from East Tennessee State University in 2015 and a Bachelor of Science degree in Athletic Training from Carson Newman University in 2012. Nathan interned with the ESPN Wide World of Sports in Orlando, Florida in 2012 covering several sports as well as aiding in day-to-day operations in the athletic training room. In 2011, Nathan was awarded the TATS Undergraduate Athletic Training Student of the Year Award. He is originally from Sweetwater, Tennessee and is a member of the National Athletic Trainers’ Association and Tennessee Athletic Trainers’ Society. He currently resides in Johnson City. In his spare time, Nathan likes to star in music videos and loves to dab.
