Mitchell Miegel joined the ETSU Media Relations staff in the summer of 2015 as a graduate assistant.
Before coming to ETSU, Miegel served as the student sports information assistant for the Division III Berry College Vikings. He served as the liaison for all 21 teams. He gained most of his experience with baseball, softball, basketball, lacrosse, soccer, volleyball, tennis, and the start-up of the football program. Miegel served in a variety roles from: game day StatCrew, public address announcer, video operator and editor, and music operator. While at Berry, he held two academic internships with the football and baseball teams.
Miegel began his sports management and information career through an internship with the Rome Braves. During his time with the Braves, he gained experience in both the ticket office and press box. He helped the assistant general manager create pre-game notes, a schedule for mid-inning entertainment and write post-game write-ups recapping each game.
Miegel also worked for PerfectGame Baseball as an online blogger where he would recap games that were hosted by PerfectGame by using box scores and scouting notes.
He was the head minor league writer for the Atlanta Braves SBNation website, TalkingChop, where he covered nightly minor league recaps from AAA to the GCL level. He wrote feature stories relating to the Braves minor league system.
He is the primary contact for men's soccer, baseball, men's and women's tennis, women's golf, and men's and women's indoor track and field.
Mitchell is a native of Roswell, Ga., and he graduated from Berry College with a B.S. in Exercise Science and a minor in Chemistry in 2015. He is currently a master’s candidate in kinesiology and sports studies with a focus in sports management at ETSU and is expected to graduate in May of 2017.
