(May 11, 2006) - Senior infielder Josiah Glafenhein (Knoxville, Tenn.) earned a place on the national Academic All-American ballot Thursday afternoon after being named to the Academic All-District first team by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

"This is a tremendous honor for Josiah," said Buccaneer head coach Tony Skole.  "He has been a phenomenal representative of ETSU throughout his career, and this recognition validates his wonderful career both on and off the field."

Glafenhein was in the midst of the best season of his career before a hand injury sustained against Kennesaw State sidelined him for the remainder of the year.  In 29 games this season, Glafenhein was batting a career best .354 with six doubles and 15 RBI.  He held the team's highest batting average at the time of his injury.

An ETSU graduate with a degree in finance, Glafenhein has maintained a 3.89 GPA in his academic career, and is currently pursuing graduate studies at ETSU.  He will now join the ballot with honorees from the other eight districts in the nation for the opportunity to be named Academic All-American.
