COOKEVILLE, Tenn. (April 1, 2009) - An eight run fourth was all that Tennessee Tech would need as the ETSU baseball team was defeated by the Golden Eagles Wednesday night at Bush Stadium in Cookeville, Tenn., 15-7.

With the loss the Bucs fall to 13-12 on the season and 5-7 in conference play, why Tennessee Tech improves to 12-10 on the year.

Starter Bo Reeder (Cookeville, Tenn.) was tabbed with the loss after going 4.0 innings giving up seven runs (six earned) on nine hits and stuck out four as he fell to 2-3 on the season.

Tennessee Tech starter Chad Oberaker picked up his first win of the season going six scoreless innings allowing only three hits and struck out seven ETSU batters.

The Golden Eagles took an early 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first as Alex Henry drove a ball over the fence in left.

Evan Webb added to the Tennessee Tech lead in the bottom of the fourth as he homered to left for his fourth home run of the season to make the score 2-0.

Tennessee Tech scored eight runs in the bottom of the fifth on nine hits and two Buccaneer errors to extend the Golden Eagle lead to 10-0.

Sophomore Derek Trent (Kingsport, Tenn.) got the Bucs on the board in the top of the seventh as he singled in Garrett May (Roswell, Ga.) to make the score 10-1.

In the bottom of the seventh, Tennessee Tech scored five more runs on five hits to increase its lead to 15-1.

The Bucs scored two more runs in the top of the eighth as May doubled to center to score Trey Dunnigan (Boone, N.C.) and Paul Hoilman (Johnson City, Tenn.) to cut the Golden Eagle lead to 15-3.

Trent added two more in the top of the ninth as he homered over the fence in right for his second of the season to make the score 15-5. Senior Ben Allen (Kingsport, Tenn.) added more run in the inning as he drove in Hoilman on a grounder to the pitcher to make the final 15-7.

The Bucs were led offensively by Trent and May as they both had two hits a piece as Trent was a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI and a home run, while May had two RBI on the night.
