JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (March 16, 2010) - The ETSU baseball team is set to face Tennessee Tech as the Bucs head to Cookeville, Tenn. for a 7 p.m. EST contest.
ETSU (10-3) had its four-game win streak snapped Sunday after defeating SIU Edwardsville 24-4 and 14-1 to open the series. The Bucs boast the best record in the Atlantic Sun, and are led offensively by Matthew Scruggs (Knoxville, Tenn.) and Kerry Doane (Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.). Scruggs leads the team with a .442 average and eight doubles, while Doane was phenomenal this past weekend hitting .692 with three doubles, three home runs and nine RBI in the SIUE series.
The Bucs are 38-44 all-time against the Golden Eagles. The two teams met twice in 2009 with each team winning at home.
Tennessee Tech (8-8) has won four of it last five games including a series win over Buffalo this past weekend. The Golden Eagles are led by junior A.J. Kirby-Jones who is hitting .408 with a team-best eight home runs and 21 RBI.
The contest is the final tune up for the Bucs before they open the conference slate against USC Upstate on Friday at 6 p.m.
