JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (April 1, 2010) - Coming off of two mid-week losses, the ETSU baseball team will look to get back on track as the Bucs host North Florida in a big Atlantic Sun conference series this weekend at Cardinal Park.
The two teams will open the series Friday at 7 p.m., and are scheduled to close out the weekend with a doubleheader slated for 1 p.m. on Saturday.
ETSU (16-7, 5-1 A-Sun) is 5-0 in weekend series on the year, and 2-0 in conference series going into the weekend. The Bucs lead the A-Sun in home runs (40) and slugging (.555), and are fourth in average (.328). Junior first baseman Paul Hoilman (Johnson City, Tenn.) leads the way for the Buccaneers with a conference best 12 home runs and a .925 slugging percentage.
On the season, ETSU has enjoyed playing at home going 12-3 at Cardinal Park, while outscoring its opponents 157-97 with 30 home runs. ETSU is 6-6 all-time against the Ospreys, and 3-3 against UNF in home contests.
North Florida (14-13, 4-2 A-Sun) has won three of its last five games including a series win over Campbell last weekend. The Ospreys as a team rank eighth in the conference in average (.299) and fifth in ERA (6.05). UNF is led by senior outfielder Preston Hale who is hitting .395 with 12 doubles, two triples, four home runs and 26 RBI.
