Reeder named SEBaseball.com A-Sun Freshmen of the Year
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (July 6, 2009) -Sophomore Paul Hoilman (Johnson City, Tenn.) started for Team NECBL (New England Collegiate Baseball League) in a 4-1 loss to Team USA Baseball Sunday at the MerchantsAuto.com AA Stadium in Manchester, N.H.
"This was a great honor for Paul to play with and against the best players in the United States," said head coach Tony Skole. "He is having a tremendous summer in the NECBL."
The Buccaneer first baseman was one of three North Adams SteepleCats selected to Team NECBL. Hoilman has been one of the biggest offensive threats in the league this season. Currently, he is hitting .295 with a league-leading five home runs. His 16 runs batted in are second-most in the league and he leads the league in total bases with 39 and walks with 20.
"Our entire roster, except for three who are rehabbing injuries, is playing this summer," Skole said. "This is the first time we have been able to accomplish this in ten years and I am confident that it will be beneficial to the development of our young players."
Freshman Bo Reeder (Cookeville, Tenn.) was named the South Eastern Baseball Atlantic Sun Freshman of the Year last week, while also earning a spot on the second team, while Hoilman was named to the first team.
