BOONE, N.C. (Apr. 3, 2012) – The ETSU baseball game at Appalachian State has been cancelled due to bad weather in the Boone area.
The two teams played two and a half innings before lightning and rain moved into the area. The game will be made up, but no official date has been set as of yet. The made up game will start from the beginning.
ETSU took the 2-0 lead in the top of the third after a two-run homer by Matthew Scruggs (Knoxville, Tenn.). Corey McPherson (Johnson City, Tenn.) led off the inning with a hard ground ball to first baseman Trey Holmes, which Holmes was unable to handle, allowing McPherson to reach on the error. Then, Scruggs followed with a long drive over the left field wall to give the Bucs a two-run lead
ETSU will be back in action at home on Thursday to begin a three-game series against North Florida at Thomas Stadium.
