JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Oct. 9, 2013) – The ETSU baseball team wraps up its fall season this weekend as the Bucs hold their annual Blue-White World Series.
The series begins Thursday night at 7 p.m., while game two is set for Friday at 4 p.m. The Bucs wrap up the Blue-White World Series Saturday at 7 p.m. All three games will be played at Thomas Stadium.
This weekend’s games are free and open to the public.
Last weekend the Bucs held a pair of scrimmages with Clinton Freeman (Jonesborough, Tenn.), Logan Rice (Erwin, Tenn.) and Will Chesney (Knoxville, Tenn.) accounting for scoreless outings on the mound. Freeman, who has tossed 11 scoreless innings this fall, scattered two hits in three innings of work. Rice also pitched three scoreless innings and struck out two, while Chesney went two scoreless frames. Chesney hasn’t allowed a run in eight total innings this fall.
At the plate, senior outfielder Daniel Tucker (Hendersonville, Tenn.) went 3 for 7 with a pair of doubles, two RBI and two stolen bases last weekend. Junior Zach Thompson (Johnson City, Tenn.) hit .500 (3-6) with one double, two stolen bases and three runs scored, while Freeman also hit .500 (4-8) with two doubles. Meanwhile, sophomore Kevin Phillips (St. Louis, Mo.) and freshman Sam Jokerst (Atlanta, Ga.) both hit home runs for their respective teams.
