SOUTH YARMOUTH, Mass. (July 21, 2013) – East Tennessee State University rising senior Clinton Freeman (Jonesborough, Tenn.) was named to the 2013 Cape Cod League All-Star Team, which was announced by the league office on Saturday.
Freeman, a two-way player (OF/LHP) for the Bourne Braves, is hitting .321 (34-106) with five doubles, 10 runs scored, and 13 RBI in a team-leading 27 games played this summer. The Buccaneer standout is tied for the team lead in doubles, ranks second in hits and RBI, third in batting average, and sixth in runs scored. Freeman also ranks ninth in the Cape Cod League in hits and 14th in batting average.
The Jonesborough, Tenn., native has hit safely in 15 of his last 17 games, including a 5-for-5 effort earlier this month against the Orleans Firebirds. Overall, Freeman has hit safely in 20 of his 27 games played and has registered nine multi-hit games.
Freeman has also made two appearances on the mound and has struck out four hitters in two innings of work this summer.
The Braves are sending five total players to the All-Star game, which will be played Saturday, July 27 at Red Wilson Field in South Yarmouth, Mass.
Freeman joins ETSU rising sophomore Jeremy Taylor (Fayetteville, Ga.) to be selected their summer league’s All-Star teams. Earlier this month, Taylor was named to the Sunbelt League All-Star Team. Taylor is playing for the Home Plate Chukars.
