Johnson City, Tenn. -- The East Tennessee State University athletic department announced today that Matt Hensley (Knoxville, Tenn.) has signed a National Letter of Intent to join head coach Tony Skole's Buccaneer baseball program next fall.
Hensley, a senior at Anderson County High School, is a dominating right-handed pitcher. In 19 appearances this season, Hensley was 6-2 with two saves. He threw two perfect games and carried a 1.17 earned run average.
Opposing batters hit just .130 against Hensley. He struck out 118 batters in 60.0 innings and allowed just 10 earned runs in that span.
"We are extremely excited to have Matt join our ETSU baseball family," Skole said. "Matt is an extremely talented young man that comes from a great family. We have believed all year that he is one of the top high school pitchers in Tennessee. Matt will make an immediate impact on our future."
Hensley joins Justin Adams (Kingsport, Tenn.), Bryan Crouse (Morristown, Tenn.), Josh Kite (Greeneville, Tenn.), and Scott Rose (Soddy Daisy, Tenn.) in the 2000 recruiting class.
