Asheville, N.C. (April 12) -- UNC Asheville got solid pitching and clutch hitting to record a 6-2 non-conference victory over East Tennessee State at Greenwood Field Wednesday afternoon.

Freshman reliever Aaron Rembert got UNCA out of trouble in the seventh with a double-play ball and then cruised over the next two innings to earn his second save of the year.
UNCA was clinging to a 3-2 lead after the Bucs 10-22 had picked up a run in the top of the seventh on a Nathan Copeland run-scoring single. ETSU had runners on first and second before Rembert got Ryan McKinney to bounce into a double play.
The Bulldogs put the game away with three tuns in the bottom half of the seventh. With one out Willie Stewart singled. Todd Interdonato followed with a single to right center that Stewart was able to score all the way from first to put the Dogs up 4-2. Interdonato went to second on the play. Third baseman Stephen Deyo then had an RBI-single to score Interdonato and push the lead to 5-2. Pete Meterko followed with an RBI-single to left to plate Deyo, who had went to second on an error, to give UNCA a 6-2 lead.
Copeland gave the Bucs a 1-0 lead in the top of the first on an RBI-groundout. He finished the day 3-for-4. UNCA tied the game in the thrd when Moncus helped his own cause with a sacrifice fly. The Dogs took the lead 2-1 with some aggressiveness in the bottom of the fourth when Interdonato scored from second on a wild pitch.
