Baseball Signs Four Recruits In Early Signing Period

Monday, November 22, 1999

Johnson City, Tenn. - The East Tennessee State University athletic department announced today that Justin Adams (Kingsport, Tenn.), Bryan Crouse (Morristown, Tenn.), Scott Rose (Soddy Daisy, Tenn.) and Jamie Tricoglou (Soddy Daisy, Tenn.) have signed National Letters of Intent to join first-year head coach Tony Skole and the Buccaneer baseball program.

Adams, Crouse, Rose and Tricoglou were signed during the early signing period that began on November 10. They will begin play with ETSU during the 2000-2001 academic year.

"We are very excited that we created a strong foundation for our first recruiting class," Skole said. "These four players are extremely talented and will contribute immediately to our program. My assistant coaches Nate Goulet and David Shelton are to be commended for their hard work during the early signing period."

Adams, the brother of current Buc pitcher Jason Adams, is a senior at Dobyns-Bennett High School in Kingsport, Tenn. Many professional scouts feel Adams is the best high school player in the Tri-Cities area, Skole said. The shortstop hit .389, had 31 RBIs, 11 doubles and three home runs during his junior year for head coach Mike Ritz.

Crouse will play his first season for Walters State Community College this spring. The left-handed pitcher played last season at Gardner Webb College and went 7-4. Crouse played high school baseball at Kingston High School under head coach Bruce Robinette. He went 9-1 as a pitcher and hit .550 with 10 home runs.

Rose is currently playing at Chattanooga State Community College. He hit .300 last season with six home runs and 30 RBIs. The catcher had a .990 fielding percentage and retired 60 percent of attempted base stealers. He earned Academic All-State honors and carries a 3.75 grade point average. Rose was a four-year letterwinner at Soddy Daisy High School and started 101 straight games at catcher.

Tricoglou will play his first season for Cleveland State Community College this spring. The right-handed pitcher went 5-1 with a 3.00 ERA for Jefferson State College (Birmingham, Ala.) last season. Tricoglou played high school baseball for head coach Steve Garland at Soddy Daisy High School. He went 11-1 with a 1.40 ERA during his senior season.

The Bucs will open the 2000 season on February 19 with a doubleheader against Jacksonville State.
