ETSU Baseball Picks Up Transfer

Johnson City, Tenn. (July 16, 2002) - East Tennessee State's baseball team has signed Chris Gambill (Mountain City, Tenn.) to a letter of intent to enroll at ETSU and play baseball for the Bucs head coach Tony Skole announced today. Gambill will be transferring from Milligan College where he played last season for the Buffaloes. He will have three years of eligibility at ETSU. A 6-3, left-handed pitcher, Gambill saw action in 15 games as a freshman for Milligan in 2002, going 5-5 with a 4.20 ERA. His five wins tied for the most on the Buffaloes and he struck out a team best 43 hitters in 56.2 innings of work, holding opposing batters to a .225 average. A graduate of Johnson County High School, Gambill was a three-year letterwinner. An all-state player as a senior, he also earned East Tennessee Player of the Year honors as well as being named the player of the year in his conference and region in 2001.
