JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Apr. 27, 2004) - East Tennessee State junior catcher Caleb Moore (Knoxville, Tenn.) is among the top-10 in two different categories in the NCAA Division I statistics, released Tuesday.
Moore is fourth among all Division I hitters with a .460 batting average, just 14 points behind third baseman Ed Lucas of Dartmouth, who leads the nation at .474. Caleb is tied for sixth with .51 doubles per game, having hit 19 in 37 games this season. Vanderbilt outfielder Warner Jones leads the nation with .58 doubles per game after hitting 23 in 40 games. Moore leads the Southern Conference in both categories.
Caleb is in the midst of a torrid streak the plate, hitting .667 (16-24) in his last five games. During that streak, he has hit nine doubles while driving in five runs and scoring seven others.
The Bucs return to action this evening at 7 p.m. in the Kingsport Classic against Virginia Tech from Hunter Wright Stadium. ETSU then hosts Southern Conference rival The Citadel in a three-game weekend series from Cardinal Park in Johnson City.
