JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Dec. 6, 2003) - The East Tennessee State baseball team held their annual Winter Hitting Camp for area youth players this weekend from Memorial Center in Johnson City, Tenn.
The camp was held Friday and Saturday evening and was open to players from age five to high school seniors. Roughly 20 Buccaneer players as well as the ETSU coaching staff assisted with the camp, which was attended by nearly 50 area youths.
"It is exciting that so many young people are wanting to practice baseball during this time of the year," said ETSU head baseball coach Tony Skole Saturday evening. "It is also great to see our players spending time and having a positive influence on these young people. I think they have as much fun as the campers."
The Buccaneer baseball program holds 3-to-4 camps during the year, one during the winter and 2-to-3 during the summer months.
