Buccaneer Baseball signs Chuck Hargis to National Letter of Intent

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Nov. 18, 2003) - East Tennessee State head baseball coach Tony Skole announced Tuesday that Walters State Community College shortstop Chuck Hargis (Powell, Tenn.) has signed to play for the Bucs beginning in the 2005 season. Hargis batted .370 last season with nine home runs and 43 RBI for a Senators team that reached the Junior College World Series. He also has good speed on the basepaths, as he swiped 26 bases on the year. Following the season, Hargis earned All-TJCAA Second Team honors. At Powell High School, Hargis a three time all-district and a three time All-KIL selection. "The East Tennessee State University baseball family is so excited that Chuck Hargis has signed a National Letter of intent with our university and baseball program," said Skole. "Chuck is not only an outstanding shortstop and hitter, but he is also a great young man. Chuck is regarded as the number one shortstop in all of the junior colleges in Tennessee and we anticipate him making an immediate impact in our program.
