Elon defeats Buccaneer Baseball, 11-1
Shane Byrne went 3-for-4 Friday against Elon Friday, April 01, 2005 Elon took the early lead with two runs in the top of the second. Chris Price led off the inning with a double down the left field line and moved to third on a single by Drew Davis. Matt Stocco scored Price with a RBI single to right-center and Paul Bennett singled through the left side to score The Elon put the game away with two runs in the sixth, two in the seventh and one in the eighth. Erickson drove in two runs with a single in the top of the sixth. In the seventh, Morris hit an RBI triple and later scored on a wild pitch. The Bucs scored their lone run in the bottom of the ninth. Junior right fielder Shane Byrne ( Matt McSwain earned the win (5-0), going five innings and allowing just two hits and walking none while striking out eight. Buccaneer junior lefty Steven Calicutt ( Seven Elon players had multiple hits in the win, led by Davis, Stocco and Bennett who each had three.
