Caleb Moore named Southern Conference Player of the Week

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Mar. 9, 2005) - East Tennessee State senior catcher Caleb Moore (Knoxville, Tenn.) was named SoCon Baseball Player of the Week for games played between Feb. 21-27, as award winners from the last two weeks were announced this afternoon from the conference office in Spartanburg, S.C.

            Caleb had almost a flawless afternoon in a doubleheader sweep of Xavier on Feb. 26 from Cardinal Park in Johnson City, Tenn. Moore went 6-for-8 at the plate with three doubles, a home run and eight RBIs. Caleb also recorded the save in each of the games, pitching two scoreless innings while allowing just one baserunner.

In game one, Moore went 3-for-4 with two RBIs and a run scored. In the nightcap, Caleb had a monster game, going 3-for-4 with two doubles, a home run, two runs scored and six RBIs. He has a pair of two-RBI doubles in a nine-run first inning for ETSU.

Moore is batting .361 for the 9-1 Buccaneers, leading the team with four home runs and 17 runs batted in. In six relief appearances, Caleb has been phenomenal, going 2-0 with four saves. He not allowed any runs, giving up just three hits in seven innings pitched.
