Buccaneer Baseball appears in national and regional polls

Steven Calicutt is 2-0 with a 1.35 ERA this season
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Mar. 2, 2005) - The East Tennessee State baseball team is ranked in the latest regional and national polls from Southeastern Baseball (www.SEBaseball.com), released on Mar. 1.
The Bucs are ranked 45th nationally and 29th in the Southeastern region poll. Texas is ranked No. 1 in the nation while Tulane is ranked first in the region.
EastTennesseeState is 6-0 to begin the 2005 season after sweeping Niagara and Xavier. Senior All-America catcher Caleb Moore (Knoxville, Tenn.) and senior second baseman Nick Crowe (Johnson City, Tenn.) have led the Buccaneer offense, batting .444 and .429 respectively. Moore leads the Bucs with 10 RBIs while Crowe is tops on the team with nine runs scored.
The Buccaneer pitching staff has also shown tremendous improvement, as the Bucs have a team ERA of 3.75 so far this season. Junior lefty Steven Calicutt (Spartanburg, S.C.) has been dominant, going 2-0 and posting a 1.35 ERA. Junior righty Jeremy Hall (Gray, Tenn.) is 1-0 with a 3.55 ERA, allowing 10 hits and striking out 10 batters in 12.2 innings pitched.
ETSU's bullpen has also been a strength, led by Moore and senior righty Michael Bauer (Kingsport, Tenn.). Both are 1-0 and Moore already has three saves. The duo has given up just three hits and has not allowed a run in eight innings of work.
The Bucs return to action this weekend, hosting West Virginia in a three-game series from CardinalPark in Johnson City. The series opener is set for Friday at with Saturday's game at and Sunday's matchup scheduled for
