MACON, Ga. (May 15, 2006) - Junior C.J. Lee (Bristol, Va.) won his second Atlantic Sun Player of the Week award Monday afternoon, following a weekend in which he hit three home runs, leading the Bucs to their sixth A-Sun series victory this season.
Lee hit .455 in the Bucs series with Gardner-Webb. In Saturday's doubleheader, Lee homered in three consecutive at bats, doubling his season home run total. The junior hit a solo homer in the 10th inning of game one, a two-run shot in the first inning of game two, and three-run bomb in the third inning. The Bristol, Va., native finished the series 5-for-11 with a 1.273 slugging percentage, four runs scored and eight RBI. Five of the RBI were delivered in the 9-4 series clinching victory. For the season, Lee is now hitting .348 with 10 doubles, six home runs and 39 RBI.
The Atlantic Sun Conference hands out Player of the Week and Pitcher of the Week awards weekly during the 2006 baseball campaign. The 11-member league headquartered in Macon, Ga., consists of Belmont, Campbell, ETSU, Florida Atlantic, Gardner-Webb, Jacksonville, KennesawState, Lipscomb, Mercer, North Florida and Stetson.
The Bucs are back in action Tuesday afternoon, wrapping up their home schedule against Western Carolina. First pitch is scheduled for at CardinalPark.
