DELAND, Fla. (May 5, 2007) - Stetson scored two runs in the bottom of the eighth inning, breaking a 2-2 tie, and Robbie Elsemiller pitched three innings of scoreless relief as the Hatters held off ETSU and clinched the weekend series 4-2 Saturday afternoon at Melching Field.

With the game tied at two and runners at second and third with one out in the bottom of the eighth, shortstop Kevin Johnson grounded out to Ben Allen (Kingsport, Tenn.), and designated hitter Erich Holland broke for home on Allen's throw to first.  First baseman Anthony Russell's (Waldorf, Md.) relay appeared to beat Holland to the plate, but Holland slip around the tag of catcher Danny Petro (Atlanta, Ga.), scoring the game-winner.  The Hatters added an insurance run two batters later, and Elsemiller retired the Bucs in the ninth, securing his second win of the season.

The Bucs (26-21, 11-9) took a 1-0 lead in the first winning when sophomore Troy Mendez (Roswell, Ga.) reached to lead off the game on a hit by pitch, and came around to score on freshman Danny Petro's (Atlanta, Ga.) two-out double down the right field line.

The Hatters (35-12, 17-3), loaded the bases without notching a hit in the sixth inning, as ETSU starter Brandon Langston (Ringgold, Ga.) issued a pair of walks and hit right fielder Brian Pruitt with a 2-2 pitch.  After falling behind 0-2 against Langston, Cruz drove the junior's 1-2 offering back up the middle, bringing home Stetson's first two runs.

Freshman Justin Tramble's (Marietta, Ga.) bunt single in the top of the seventh brought home senior C.J. Lee (Bristol, Va.), tying the game at two, and moved the go-ahead run to third base with less than two outs, but sophomore Jacob Fabry (Chattanooga, Tenn.) was thrown out at the plate trying to score on Mendez's bunt.

Elsemiller held the Bucs to one hit in his three innings of work, improving to 2-1 for the season.  Senior Caleb Glafenhein (Knoxville, Tenn.) surrendered both eight inning runs, falling to 13-4.

The teams conclude the series Sunday afternoon with a 1 p.m. first pitch at Melching Field.
