ETSU Baseball to be aired on WKPT Sports Radio and ASun.TV

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (March 4, 2008) - The Mountain States Health Alliance Buccaneer Sports Network and Holston Valley Broadcasting Corporation have teamed up to air a handful of ETSU baseball games this 2008 season with broadcasts starting on March 25 when the Bucs head to Western Carolina for a 7 p.m. game.


"We are excited to be the flagship for Bucs Baseball," said WKPT Sports Director Scott Gray. "The schedule we're carrying features the Bucs facing championship caliber opposition from Georgia and Georgia Tech, and great rivalry games with Tennessee and Appalachian State. That, along with the Bucs roster including nine players from our local area, and we have an excellent combination for ETSU baseball fans. Head Coach Tony Skole does an outstanding job, and we look forward to an exciting season."


Jay Sandos enters his sixth season as the "Voice of the Bucs", and will be calling all the action on WKPT-AM 1590 and its translator 97.7 FM in Johnson City, WKTP-AM 1400 and its translator 94.3 FM in Kingsport and WOPI-AM 1490 in Bristol. Additionally, WOPI's FM translator 97.7 will also air ETSU games.


The Bucs will have at least eight other games aired on three of the Holston Valley Broadcasting flagship stations. The games to be carried include: Georgia Tech (April 15), Tennessee (April 9), Georgia (April 15), Tennessee (April 23), Appalachian State (May 7), Western Carolina (May 13), Stetson (May 18), as well as every ETSU game from the Atlantic Sun Tournament in DeLand, Fla.


"We are very excited with this new partnership at WKPT," added ETSU Network Director Jay Sandos. "We were looking to expand our network with baseball, and we very pleased with the direction WKPT is headed and what they had to offer. Our partnership with them during women's basketball has been great, and we are glad to be teaming up with WKPT."


Fans should also plan to tune in a half hour before the game to catch all the analysis on the Pregame Show. The Bucs will also be simulcast on the internet starting March 12 when the Bucs head to Tennessee Tech for a 3 p.m. game.


ETSU baseball will also be broadcast live on ASun.TV as 20 games will be available. The broadcast will cover home games against Mercer, UNF, Tennessee, Gardner-Webb, Appalachian State, Belmont, UNC Central, James Madison, Western Carolina and Stetson. All broadcasts are subject to change due to cancellations, inclement weather or scheduling conflicts.
