JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (March 9, 2009) - The ETSU baseball team will head to Cullowhee, N.C. Tuesday to face former Southern Conference foe Western Carolina in a two-game mid-week series.
Game one of the series is set for 4 p.m. on Tuesday, while the first pitch for game two is slated for Wednesday at 4 p.m.
ETSU (5-4, 1-2 A-Sun) is coming off of its first conference series of the season as the Bucs went 1-2 against a very good Kennesaw State squad. The Bucs are 28-58 all-time against the Catamounts. ETSU is led by junior catcher Danny Petro (Atlanta, Ga.) as he leads the team in average (.364), hits (12), doubles (6) and is tied for the team lead in RBI (9).
Western Carolina (8-2, 3-0 SoCon) has had a good start to its 2009 campaign as the Catamounts took two out of three from the 24th ranked USC Trojans and are 3-0 in conference play having swept Appalachian State. The Catamounts are led by junior second baseman Nick Liles and freshman outfielder Ross Heffley. As a team, Western Carolina is hitting .319 on the season and has 23 doubles, four triples and ten home runs.
