ETSU baseball to face Radford and Tennessee Tech in the midweek

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (April 26, 2010) - The ETSU baseball team is set to face Radford and Tennessee Tech in a pair of midweek games. The Bucs head to Dedmon Center Park in Radford, Va. for a 3 p.m. contest Tuesday before hosting the Golden Eagles Wednesday at 7 p.m. at Cardinal Park.


The Bucs (22-17, 11-7 A-Sun) are coming off of their fourth conference series win and third consecutive series win on the road after sweeping Campbell in a doubleheader Saturday. ETSU is in the top three in the A-Sun in slugging, on base percentage, runs scored, RBIs and home runs pounding out 165 extra base hits while driving in 323 runs.


Junior Paul Hoilman (Johnson City, Tenn.) picked up his first ever Atlantic Sun Player of the Week honor after hitting three home runs and driving in six last week. The local product has had an incredible year hitting an A-Sun best .452 with 18 doubles, 16 home runs and 56 RBI.


The Highlanders (20-19, 8-7 Big South) come into the contest having won three of their last five including a road series win over Winthrop. Senior Reggie Keen leads Radford hitting .375 with 11 doubles, four home runs and 30 RBI.


ETSU is 18-12 all-time against RU including a 22-10 beat down of the Highlanders at home earlier this season.


Tennessee Tech (20-20, 6-5 OVC) has won seven of its last eight games including a season-best five straight. The Golden Eagles are led by Chad Oberacker and A.J. Kirby-Jones. Oberacker has a team-best .438 average with 20 doubles, while Kirby-Jones has 18 home runs and 55 RBI.


TTU defeated the Buccaneers in the only meeting of the season between the two teams as the Bucs dropped a hard fought 6-5 game in at Bush Stadium in Cookeville, Tenn.
