JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (April 19, 2010) - The ETSU baseball team is set to face UNC Asheville and Appalachian State in a pair of mid-week non-conference games. The Bucs head to Asheville, N.C. Tuesday at 3 p.m. to take on UNCA at McCormick Field before hosting the Mountaineers Wednesday at 7 p.m. at Cardinal Park.
ETSU (19-12, 8-4 A-Sun) comes into the week having lost three of its last five games after dropping two games to Mercer this past weekend. Junior Paul Hoilman (Johnson City, Tenn.) continues to have amazing season as he leads the Atlantic Sun in average (.444) and slugging (.859).
The Bulldogs (11-21, 5-10 Big South) will look to end a four-game skid Tuesday after being swept by Winthrop over the weekend. Asheville is led by freshman catcher Ian Graham who has a team-best .368 average with 12 doubles and 18 RBI. The Bucs are 22-19 all-time against UNCA including a season sweep of the Bulldogs in 2009.
Appalachian State (26-8, 9-8 SoCon) saw its nine-game win streak snapped last weekend against UNC Greensboro after taking the first two games of the series. Senior Wes Hobson leads ASU hitting .413 with 11 doubles, nine home runs and 36 runs driven in. The Mountaineers defeated the Bucs 14-4 in the only meeting between the two teams this season.
Wednesday night is 80's night at the ball park as all fans are enouraged to wear their favorite 80's attire and come rock out with the Bucs at Cardinal Park.
