SPARTANBURG, S.C. (April 14, 2010) - The ETSU baseball team fell victim to two big innings as the Bucs dropped a 8-7 contest against Wofford Wednesday night at Russell C. King Field in Spartanburg, S.C.

The Bucs (19-13, 8-4 A-Sun) were out hit 15-7 in the contest. Freshman Derek Bushey (Richmond, Va.) was tabbed with his first loss of the season after allowing two runs on three hits with four strikeouts in 2.0 innings.

Cash Collins picked up the win for the Terriers (11-21, 4-8 SoCon) going 1.2 innings giving up one runs on two hits with two strikeouts.

Junior Paul Hoilman (Johnson City, Tenn.) had a good day offensively going 3-for-3 with three doubles, two RBI and scored four runs. Catcher Derek Trent (Kingsport, Tenn.) was the only other Buccaneer with multiple hits in the game.

The Terries grabbed a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second as Landon Bennett came in to score on a Neil Robinette double down the left field line. Wofford added three more runs in the inning highlighted by a RBI single by James Foster to take a 4-0 advantage.

In the top of the fourth, the Bucs got on the board as Hoilman scored on a wild pitch by Gus White to make the score 4-1.

Wofford got the run back in the bottom half as Matt Moore came in to score on a Foster single to give the Terriers a 5-1 lead.

ETSU exploded for four runs on three hits in the top of the fifth to even the game at 5-all. A two-run double by Hoilman and RBI singles by Bo Reeder (Cookeville, Tenn.) and Andrew Green (Powell, Tenn.) capped the inning.

After a Hoilman double in the seventh, Trent dumped a single into center scoring Hoilman to give ETSU a 6-5 lead. Hoilman's double in the seventh was his 200th career hit in a Buccaneer uniform as he is currently fifth all-time.

Wofford answered in the bottom of the seventh scoring three runs on five hits including a solo home run by Kyle Behrendt and a two-run single by Michael McConnell to take a 8-6 lead.

After a scoreless eighth, the Bucs cut the Terrier lead to 8-7 as Hoilman came in to score on a Wofford error. With runners on first and second and one out, Green lined into a double play to end the game.
