ETSU baseball to host Eastern Kentucky in mid-week series

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (April 5, 2010) - The ETSU baseball team is scheduled to host Eastern Kentucky in a two-game mid-week series starting Tuesday at 7 p.m. at Cardinal Park. The two teams will close out the series Wednesday with the first pitch slated for 3 p.m.

 

ETSU (17-9, 6-3 A-Sun) comes into the series having gone 1-4 in its last five contests. Sophomore Matthew Scruggs (Knoxville, Tenn.) had a big game last time out going 5-for-5 with seven RBI in a 20-19 win over North Florida.

 

The Bucs are 31-47 all-time against the Colonels with the last meeting coming in 2001. ETSU is 2-0 against EKU under head coach Tony Skole winning 16-7 and 6-1 in two mid-week games.

 

Eastern Kentucky (12-14, 3-3 OVC) was swept last weekend by Southeast Missouri State after winning four straight. As a team, the Colonels are hitting .300 with 57 doubles and 34 home runs. Junior Jayson Langfels leads the way for EKU hitting a team best .406 with 11 doubles, three triples, nine home runs and 28 RBI.
