COOKEVILLE, Tenn. (March 17, 2010) - Tennessee Tech's Zephan Guyear hit a walk-off single in the ninth as the ETSU baseball team fell to the Golden Eagles 6-5 Wednesday night at Bush Stadium in Cookeville, Tenn.

The Bucs (10-4) were led offensively by first baseman Paul Hoilman (Johnson City, Tenn.) as he was 2-for-4 with a home run and four RBI. Junior Chas Byrne (Johnson City, Tenn.) also had multiple hits in the game.

ETSU reliever Bo Burton (Kingsport, Tenn.) was tabbed with the loss for the Bucs after giving up two runs on five hits in 1.1 innings of work. Starter Josh Means (Kennesaw, Ga.) got a no decision as he was knocked from the game in the sixth after allowing only one hit in the first five innings.

Stephen Pryor earned the win for Tennessee Tech (9-8) throwing a perfect ninth with two strikeouts.

After two scoreless innings to start the game, the Bucs took a 1-0 lead as freshman Andrew Green (Powell, Tenn.) hammered his first home run of season over the fence in right to lead off the third inning. Later in the inning, Byrne doubled to left with two outs to keep the inning alive. In the next at bat, Hoilman singled to left scoring Byrne to make the score 2-0 ETSU.

A.J. Kirby Jones tied the game at 2-all in the bottom of the sixth as he crushed a two-run home run over the fence in right. Later in the inning, the Golden Eagles went ahead 3-2 as Seth Edwards came in to score on a sacrifice fly to right by Guyear.

In the bottom of the seventh, TTU increased its lead to 4-2 as Frankie Beech came in to score from second on a double by Tate McMillan.

Hoilman put the Buccaneers back in front in the top of the eighth as he sent the first pitch he saw over the fence in left center for a three-run home run to make the score 5-4 ETSU. The home run was the eighth of the season for Hoilman

Burton came in for the Bucs in the bottom of the eighth and was able to work out of a bases loaded jam getting a ground ball out to first to end the inning.

The Golden Eagles got a lead off double in the ninth by Jones and a hit batsman to start the bottom of the ninth. After a bunt single to load the bases and a force play at home, Guyear singled back up the middle scoring two runs to win the game for TTU.
