Bucs explode for four home runs to defeat Stetson 12-7
Bo Burton Friday, April 30, 2010 Junior Bo Burton ( Stetson starter Jacob deGrom was tabbed with the loss for the Hatters (24-20, 11-5 A-Sun) surrendering eight runs (six earned) on 13 hits in 6.1 innings of work. Doane evened the game at 2-all in the second as he drove a two-run home run over the right field fence. The Bucs went in front 3-2 in the third as Matthew Scruggs ( Stetson regained the lead in the fifth as Ryan Lashley drove a two-run home run over the scoreboard in left to make the score 4-3 Hatters. ETSU exploded for four runs on five hits in the bottom half of the fifth to take a 7-4 lead. After an Andrew Green ( In the top of the sixth, the Hatters cut the Buccaneer lead to 7-5 as Rickles came in to score on an Emory single. SU tied the game at 7-7 in the seventh after RBI singles by Spencer Theisen and Jones. The Bucs answered in the bottom of the seventh as left fielder Michael Gonzalez (Jupiter, ETSU grabbed four insurance runs in the bottom of the eighth to take a 12-7 lead as Garrett May (Marietta, Ga.) drove a solo home run over the left field fence to lead off the inning. Later in the inning, Reeder crushed a three-run home run over the left field fence for his 13th home run of the season. The Bucs are back in action tomorrow at 1p.m. as they will play a doubleheader against the Hatters to close out the series.
