Reeder named a finalist for the 2011 Olerud Two-Way Player Award

LUBBOCK, Texas (June 21, 2011) " Junior Bo Reeder (Cookeville, Tenn.) was named one of three finalists for the 2011 John Olerud Two-Way Player of the Year Award, the College Baseball Hall of Fame announced on Tuesday.
 
Reeder joins Danny Hultzen of Virginia and Cody Fick of Evansville as a finalist for the Olerud Award which recognizes the top player in the country who makes an impact both on the mound and at the plate.
 
"This is a very strong list of players," said Cory Flores, co-chair of the Olerud Award committee. "These three guys had really incredible seasons."
 
A 2011 Louisville Slugger First Team All-American, Reeder had a phenomenal junior campaign breaking the Atlantic Sun single season saves record with 18 while hitting .315 with 15 home runs and 59 RBI. Reeder is also a finalist for the NCBWA Stopper of the Year award after posting an impressive 1.95 ERA in 27.2 innings.
 
Hultzen, the No. 2 overall draft choice in this year's MLB First-Year Player Draft, has been named First-Team All-American by both the NCBWA and Baseball America. He is 12-3 with a 1.49 ERA and has struck out 151. He also is batting .335 with 35 RBIs.
 
Fick, a 23rd-round pick of the Philadelphia Phillies, hit .406 with nine home runs and 71 RBIs. On the mound, he was 7-4 with a 2.36 ERA.
 
The winner of the John Olerud Award will be named on July 3 in Lubbock, Texas, as part of College Baseball's Night of Champions. The event also features the announcement of winners of the National Pitcher of the Year and Brooks Wallace Award. The Johnny Bench Award and Dick Howser Trophy are also presented, and the 2011 National College Baseball Hall of Fame inductions will also take place.
