JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (May 8, 2012) – The ETSU baseball team returns to action with a non-conference matchup against Radford on Wednesday at the Radford University Baseball Stadium.

Wednesday’s first pitch will begin at 6:00 p.m. and can be heard live on 640 WXSM and online at ETSUBucs.com. The Bucs will send freshman right-hander Will Carter (Johnson City, Tenn.) (0-2, 4.50 ERA) to the mound to oppose Radford righty Jake Palese (3-1, 5.48 ERA).

ETSU heads into the contest with a 21-26 overall record, while Radford owns a 26-20 record. The Highlanders do face James Madison at home on Tuesday night.

Jimmy Nesselt (Plantation, Fla.) went five innings and the ETSU bats pounded out seven runs on 12 hits to upend Radford, 7-2, on March 27 at Thomas Stadium. Nesselt earned the win after allowing five hits and two runs, while striking out five batters. Meanwhile, Palese picked up his first loss of the season after giving up six hits and five runs in 2.1 innings of work. Carter earned his first career save after tossing four innings of scoreless relief.

Derek Niesman (Wellington, Fla.), Clinton Freeman (Jonesborough, Tenn.), Dylan Pratt (Johnson City, Tenn.) and Andrew Green (Powell, Tenn.) led the Bucs at the plate with two hits each. Pratt and Green each had two RBI on the afternoon. Freeman, Kerry Doane (Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.) and Mason Hershey (Altoona, Pa.) each had an RBI for the Bucs. Hershey got an RBI on his first home run of the season.

Following Wednesday’s game at Radford, the Bucs will return home for the final home games of the season when they host Stetson for a three-game set beginning on Friday.
