Buccaneer slugger also named A-Sun Player of the Week
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Feb. 18, 2013) – After putting up monstrous numbers in the series win over Penn State, junior Clinton Freeman (Jonesborough, Tenn.) was recognized for his outstanding efforts by landing Louisville Slugger National Player of the Week and Atlantic Sun Player of the Week honors on Monday.
For the weekend, Freeman hit .800 (8-10) with a double, triple, three home runs, five RBIs, seven runs scored and three walks (two intentional), along with recording an astonishing 2.000 slugging percentage and .846 on-base percentage. Meanwhile, Freeman also made a pair of relief appearances on the weekend as the left-handed hurler struck out three and earned a save in 1.1 innings of work.
Freeman hit two home runs on opening day, which marked his first multi-homer game, while following that up with a perfect 4-for-4 day at the plate on Saturday. The four-hit day set a career-high for the Jonesborough, Tenn. native. On Sunday, Freeman gave the Blue and Gold the early 2-0 lead when he belted his third round-tripper of the weekend in the first inning. From there, Freeman earned the save after getting Aaron Novak to hit into a game-ending line out to center.
The ETSU baseball team returns to the diamond on Tuesday afternoon when the Bucs host Wofford. First pitch is set for 3:05 p.m., from Thomas Stadium.
