TUCSON, Ariz. (May 30, 2013) – Kerry Doane (Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.) keeps adding more accolades to his resume.

Two days after being one of 30 semifinalists for the Golden Spikes Award, the senior East Tennessee State University pitcher was named Louisville Slugger First Team All-American, which was announced Thursday by Collegiate Baseball newspaper.

Doane, the Atlantic Sun Player of the Year and Tournament Most Valuable Player, was one of 17-players to make up the first team listing, while being just one of five starting pitchers to receive the honor.

Doane enters the Nashville Regional with a record of 13-1 and a 1.99 ERA, while leading the NCAA in complete games (12) and innings pitched (140.0). The right-hander is also tied for the NCAA lead with four shutouts. The Buccaneer standout has also set ETSU single season records for innings pitched and complete games, while tying the single-season wins and shutout records.

The other four starting pitchers joining Doane were LSU’s Aaron Nola, North Carolina’s Kent Emanuel, Mark Appel from Stanford, and Cal State Fullerton’s Thomas Eshelman.

Doane is just one of three Buccaneer players to receive Louisville Slugger First Team All-American honors, joining Paul Hoilman (2010) and Bo Reeder (2011).

The All-American teams were chosen by performances up to the regional playoffs and picked by the staff of the Collegiate Baseball newspaper.

ETSU makes its first NCAA Regional appearance since 1981 Friday night when the Blue and Gold take on No. 2 national seed Vanderbilt at 7 p.m., from Hawkins Field.
