JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Nov. 2, 2015) – The East Tennessee State University baseball program and head coach Tony Skole announced the 2016 baseball schedule with a slate of 30 home games to be played at Thomas Stadium.

The Bucs will play teams from 13 different conferences including: MAC, ACC, A-Sun, Atlantic-10, Big Ten, Horizon, MEAC, Big South, CAA, OVC, SEC, and the Southern Conference.

“We are excited about the schedule we’ve put together this season,” said Skole. “The goal of any schedule is to prepare us for the postseason and the high pressure situations you will encounter. The combination of teams we will play this season will provide us with quality experience throughout the season and will hopefully lead to postseason play.”

The Bucs will begin the season with seven of their first eight games at home.

“I am excited our team will be in Johnson City for 30 of our 55 games,” Skole said. “We have a proud and energetic fan base, and I am thrilled they will have the opportunity to see us play numerous times in beautiful Thomas Stadium. The passion of our fans and excitement in ETSU Athletics is at a very high level, and we look forward to the opportunity to showcase our program throughout the season.”

Opening weekend the Bucs will host Bowling Green University in a three-game series on February 19-21. Following the season-opener against the Falcons, ETSU travels to ACC contender Virginia Tech for a midweek game in Blacksburg, Va. on Feb. 23. The Bucs will then play four straight at home as they host former A-Sun rival Northern Kentucky for a three-game series starting on Feb. 26, followed by a midweek home game versus UNC Asheville on March 1.

ETSU then travels to Emerson, Ga. at LakePoint for a three-day tournament on March 4-6, where the Bucs play Purdue and Illinois-Chicago.

Following their first weekend road trip, ETSU remains on the road as the Blue and Gold play at North Carolina A&T on March 8, but the next day the Bucs return home to square off with the University of Tennessee at 6 p.m. at Thomas Stadium.

ETSU opens up SoCon play on Easter weekend (March 24-26) when they take on Western Carolina University in Cullowhee, N.C. The Bucs’ first conference home series takes place on April 1 against Furman, followed by a three-game set against Mercer – the defending SoCon regular season and tournament champion – at Thomas Stadium on April 8-10.

From there, ETSU hits the road for a nine-game trip where the Bucs face UNC Asheville, UNC Wilmington, Morehead State, UNCG, and Radford. The team returns home for five games, including a three-game series against conference foe VMI on April 29-May 1.

To wrap up the road portion of its’ conference schedule, ETSU will then travel to Samford on May 6-8 and Wofford on May 13-15. The Bucs finish their road schedule with a trip to Knoxville, Tenn. to play the Volunteers on May 17, while the Blue and Gold finish regular season play at home against The Citadel on May 19-21.

The 2016 SoCon Tournament will be held May 24-29. The five-day tournament will be played at Fluor Field in Greenville, S.C., which is home of the single-A Greenville Drive.
