BRISTOL, Tenn. (Nov. 13, 2017) – As part of its offseason training regime, the ETSU baseball team performed a workout at Bristol Motor Speedway last Friday afternoon.
The team split into four groups as part of the two-week “Buc Challenge” where each group would compete in drills in a point-based competition. Four of the drills took place at BMS.
“It’s a very cool place, and it’s great that we have a venue such as Bristol Motor Speedway in our own backyard,” said ETSU head baseball coach Joe Pennucci. “BMS allowed us access to some of their equipment, and we had a great time.”
The players performed track-themed drills, such as using tires to compete in a tire relay. BMS also provided a pace car for players to push down pit lane while Pennucci sat in the driver’s seat.
The Bucs also ran half-miles around the track and sprinted up the inclined stadium steps as part of the session.
At the end of the workout, the players gathered in victory lane and in unison shouted “It’s Bristol, Baby!” to put a cap on an exciting training session.
“The guys really competed well,” Pennucci said. “They really seemed to love the BMS environment. It was a great experience for our team, and it was fun to get our guys out there and compete.”
