2003 Season: Had another great season for the Bucs, both on the mound and in the outfield ... Played 38 games in the field, starting each in center field ... Made 16 appearances as a pitcher for the Bucs in 2003, including 13 starts ... Batted .301 on the year with three home runs and 13 RBI ... Hit six doubles and scored 23 runs ... Was successful on 15-of-18 stolen base attempts, breaking the Buccaneer career record for stolen bases, prevoiusly held by Adam Cross (1993-95) with 38 ... Had eight multiple-hit games in 2003, including a season high four base hits against Davidson on Apr. 27 ... Had a season-high three RBI in consecutive games against Furman (May 11) and against Tennessee Tech (May 12) ... Was a perfect 4-for-4 in stolen base attempts against Georgia Southern on May 16 ... Recorded an 11-game hitting streak during the 2003 season ... Batted .444 (25-54) when leading off an inning ... Had a 2-7 record on the hill for ETSU, finishing second on the team with a 5.44 ERA ... Led the team in innings pitched (89.1) and in strikeouts (97), finishing second in the Southern Conference in that category ... Ended the season on a positive note, with a 3.68 ERA in his final three starts and a 4.12 ERA going back to his final seven appearances of the season ... Earned a win in his season appearance of the season, against Binghamton on Feb. 22, pitching five innings and allowing one earned on just two hits while striking out seven ... Picked up his second win of the year in a pivotal matchup against Davidson on Apr. 25, going eight innings and yielding four earned runs and striking out eight ... Got a no-decision in possibly his best start of the season, pitching seven innings against UNC Asheville on May 3, allowing two runs on seven hits and striking out nine. 2002 Season: Turner emerged as a standout pitcher after a great season, both at ETSU and for the Wilson Tobs of the Coastal Plain League this past summer … Turner tied for second on the Buccaneers with three victories … Finished 3-7 with a 6.59 ERA in 13 appearances … Made 12 starts and one appearance in relief … Pitched 71 innings, striking out 61 opposing batters … Finished third on the team with 18 stolen bases, while being caught only once … Batted .248 with two home runs, 17 RBI and 26 runs scored … His best day at the plate was on May 12 against Western Carolina … Turner went 3-4 with a home run, a walk, four runs scored and five RBI … Turner posted a .362 batting average when leading off an inning (17-47) … Had a dominating stretch in mid-season where he won three consecutive starts against VMI (4/7), College of Charleston (4/14) and Appalachian State (4/21) … In those three games, Turner struck out 31 batters in 23 innings pitched … Yielded just a .228 (18-79) batting average with two outs … Turner was selected third on the Coastal Plain League Top-10 Prospects list as voted on by the league’s coaches … Turner scorched the summer wooden bat league, notching a 3-4 record for the Wilson Tobs with a microscopic 1.22 ERA and striking out 95 batters in just 66.1 innings pitched … His strikeout number led the league and his ERA was among the league leaders. 2001 Season: Appeared in 52 games, starting 48 ... Five games with three or more hits ... Second on team with nine stolen bases ... Also made 10 appearances on the mound, making five starts ... Went 3-for-5 with three RBIs and three runs vs. Valparaiso (2/24) ... Perfect 4-for-4 vs. Davidson (4/8) ... First collegiate home run vs. VMI (5/5) ... Earned first collegiate win vs. Eastern Kentucky (3/15), striking out six while allowing one run in 5.0 innings ... Nine strikeouts in 4.2 innings vs. UNC Greensboro (5/18) in the Southern Conference Tournament. High School: Earned three varsity letters for head coach Mike Parker at Marietta High School ... All-County and All-Region honors ... Hit .415 and compiled a 2.40 ERA during senior season ... Hit .350 and had a 1.91 ERA in junior campaign ... Played All-Star baseball for East Cobb three years ... Won the baserunning championship at AAU National Tournament ... Also earned two letters in football and track & field.
