Prior to ETSU: The hard-throwing righty played for coach Mike Matulia at Lake-Sumter Community College, establishing himself as one of the top junior college pitchers in the state of Florida ... Following the 2003 season, Green was named to the Florida Junior College Athletic Association All-Star Team, and earned Mid-Florida Junior College Academic All-Conference honors ... He was selected by the Seattle Mariners in the Major League Baseball draft after his freshman year at Lake-Sumter. High School: Green also had a prolific athletic career at Orlando Edgewater High School ... He was named all-county and team Most Valuable Player in each of his final two seasons and was team captain in his senior year ... Following his senior season, Green was selected by the Philadelphia Phillies in the Major League Baseball draft ... Also during his senior year, McCay was quarterback and captain of the Edgewater football team that won 11 straight games and finished the season ranked fourth in the state.
