2005 Season: Church had another solid season for the Bucs, playing in 51 games, starting 50, all at first base ... Blake batted .333 last season with seven home runs and ranked third on the team with 53 RBIs ... He also scored 40 runs, hit 15 doubles and three triples while posting a .559 slugging percentage and a .431 on-base percentage ... Church hit .373 with five homers and 37 RBIs in Southern Conference games last season ... Following the season, Blake tied for first-team All-Southern Conference honors from the league’s media at designated hitter and was voted as a second-team member at the position by SoCon coaches ... Blake furthered his reputation as the best defensive first baseman in the conference, committing just one error in 451 chances for a .998 fielding percentage ... Blake was one of ETSU’s top run producers, batting .350 (35-for-100) with runners on base, .417 (5-for-12) with the bases loaded, .373 (25-for-67) with runners in scoring position and .692 (18-for-26) with a runner at third and less than two ... He also batted .356 (16-for-45) against left-handed pitching last season ... Earned SoCon Player of the Week accolades on Apr. 25 after going 4-for-4 with three runs scored and three RBIs and 3-for-4 with two runs scored and five RBIs in consecutive games against Appalachian State on Apr. 22-23 ... He also had four RBIs against Tennessee Tech on Apr. 13 and College of Charleston on Apr. 30 ... Blake had a season-high four runs scored against College of Charleston on May 1 ... Church had 16 multi-hit games on the season and 12 games with multiple RBIs.   2004 Season: Church played in and started 55 games, 52 at first base and three at catcher ... Was an other Buc that showed tremendous improvement at the plate, finishing third on the squad with a .353 batting average and leading the team with 53 RBIs ... Also ranked third on the team with eight home runs and 15 doubles and was fifth with 40 runs scored ... Tied for fourth on the team with 20 multi-hit games ... Led the team with 14 multiple-RBI games, driving in two six times, three on five occasions and four or more three times ... Drove in a season-high five runs against UNC Greensboro on Mar. 20, going 3-for-5 and also scoring two runs ... Church drove in four runs agains Xavier on Feb. 22 and against Tennessee Tech on May 18 ... Had a season-high four hits, going 4-for-6 with two runs scored and three RBIs in a dramatic victory over The Citadel on May 1 ... In that game, Church crushed a game-winning three-run homer in the bottom of the 13th inning ... Was a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBIs on Feb. 21 in a win over Xavier ... Scored a season-high four runs against UNC Asheville on Apr. 21 ... Had two impressive streaks last season ... Church hit in 14 straight games early in the season, batting .415 in that stretch and driving in 17 runs ... Late in the year, Blake scored runs in 12 straight games, crossing the plate 21 times in that span ... Batted .375 against right-handed pitching last season and .381 with runners on base ... Was .373 with runners in scoring position and hit an incredible .789 (15-19) with a runner on third and less than two outs. 2003 Season: Blake saw action in 37 games, starting 34 ... Started 16 games at designated hitter, 10 at first base and eight at catcher ... Batted .182 on the season, tying for fourth on the team with three home runs and finishing fifth on the club with 19 RBIs ... Scored 13 runs and finished sixth on the team with six doubles ... Homered against Western Carolina (March 21), UNC Asheville (May 3) and Georgia Southern (May 15) ... Had a season-high two hits in six games ... Scored two runs against Georgia Southern on May 15 ... Drove in three runs twice, at Western Carolina (March 22) and two games later against Wofford (March 28). High School: Church was a standout at Roswell High School in Roswell, Ga., being named to the Fulton County All-Star Team by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution following his senior season … Also, in 2002 Church was a member of the region 6AAAAA all-star team while leading his team to the AAAAA final four in Georgia, the highest classification in the state … Blake served as team captain last year, leading the team with a .390 batting average, 14 doubles and a .497 on-base percentage … His 40 hits rank third on the school’s all-time single-season list … Blake batted .360 and again led the team in doubles during his junior season … He was a member of the region all-star team and was named honorable mention all-county and all-city by the Journal-Constitution ... During his freshman season, Church was again honorable mention all-county after leading the team in batting average, home runs and on-base percentage … Church won Roswell High School’s Defensive Player of the Year as a sophomore and earned Offensive Player of the Year as a senior … Blake was a member of the 2001 East Cobb Yankees team that won the 2001 Connie Mack World Series in Farmington, N.M. He batted .340 over the summer … In 2000 Church was on the East Cobb Astros club that won the silver medal at the AAU Junior Olympics in Orlando, Fla. … Church batted .382 with five home runs while leading the team to a 90-11 record … The team won championships at the Super Seven Series in Atlanta, Ga., and at the Canadian Invitational.
