Herbold played in 16 games last season, four as a designated hitter, nine as a catcher and three as a pinch hitter…went 5-for-5 with five RBIs against Western Carolina on May 16… batted .361 with 13 hits in 36 at-bats…Scored 11 runs, three doubles and eight RBIs…Had a slugging percentage of .441 and a .425 on-base percentage.

Herbold earned five letters playing for coach Clark Wormsley at Webb School of Knoxville ... he batted .437 as a senior with six doubles, four triples, two homers and 18 RBIs ... Herbold batted .417 during his junior season with 58 hits and 15 doubles ... he also led the Division II state tournament in hitting (.519), leading the Spartans to a runner-up finish ... Bubba batted .438 as a sophomore ... over his high school career, he was named all-region, all-state, all-TBCA and won three gold gloves.
