ETSU Softball Stadium at Betty Basler Field
After playing on a city-owned field for its first eight seasons, the ETSU softball team finally moved into its new on-campus home as the ETSU Softball Stadium at Betty Basler Field was built in 2009.
The state-of-the-art facility, which is located behind the Kroger Shopping Center off Greenwood Drive, is one of the most attractive facilities in the region as it overlooks the ETSU campus with a mountainous terrain as its backdrop. Betty Basler Field features TV-quality lighting, 500 seats (with 150 chair backs), gated entry concourse, bathrooms and concessions, state-of-the-art scoreboard, dugouts (with attached storage and easy access to bullpens), a playing surface with complete drainage and irrigation systems, and a practice infield.
The stadium design was supported by contributors such as: General Shale Brick, C&T Construction, Thomas Construction, Beeson Lusk and Street, Ferguson Enterpises, Gerald Thomas and Wayne Basler.
In the fall of 2010, the East Tennessee State University Department of Intercollegiate Athletics held a special ceremony for the naming rights in honor of the late Betty Basler.
The ETSU Softball Stadium opened its gates for the first time on Feb. 20, 2009 when the Bucs hosted Furman.
