Tuesday, April 10, 2007

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (April 10, 2007) -- As ETSU students went to the polls on Tuesday to vote on a new student athletic fee that could return football to the campus in 2010, the Buc Wild student organization in conjunction with the Pirate Club, the Buc Football and Friends Foundation, and the ETSU Department of Intercollegiate Athletics held a pro-football rally outside of the Sherrod Library.

Hundreds of students passed through the Borchuck Plaza, partaking in a free "world's largest cookie," taking a shot at a number of football-related inflatable games, and picking up information regarding the positives a new football program will bring to the ETSU campus.

Students are deciding on whether to pay an addition $50 per semester in 2007-08 and 2008-09, along with an addition $50 per semester in 2009-2010 and 2010-2011, to help fund the operating costs for a new football program, as well as continue Title IX gender equity funding for women's sports.

Results of the vote are expected by 8 p.m. Wednesday evening, and information on the vote will be made available immediately at ETSUBucs.com.
