ETSU To Honor Dedicated Fan At Football November 13 Game
Tuesday, November 09, 1999
Johnson City, Tenn. - At halftime of the East Tennessee State-Chattanooga football game on November 13, Patsy Pickle will be honored for not missing a home Buccaneer game for 50 seasons. Because of a disability, Mrs. Pickle will not receive a recognition plaque on the field but rather at her seat (East side, section L, row 14, seat 3). In addition to a plaque, to be presented by ETSU President Dr. Paul E. Stanton, Jr., a permanent plate will be affixed to Mrs. Pickle's seat in the Memorial Center.
Mrs. Pickle graduated from East Tennessee State in 1954 and started her career as the principal stenographer to the late Dr. Mack P. Davis, then Director of Univeristy School. She moved with Dr. Davis to the College of Education and continued to work for him in his posts as Dean of the Faculty and later Vice President for Academic Affairs. She retired in 1995 as administrative assistant in the Office of Academic Affairs.
