JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (July 7, 2015) – The ETSU Department of Intercollegiate Athletics and the Buccaneer Sports Network presented by East Coast Wings Bar & Grill announced Tuesday that it has entered into a new, multi-year radio rights agreement with Cumulus Broadcasting of the Tri-Cities, a contract that will take its athletic events back to the FM airwaves as well as renew its current AM flagship partnership.
Beginning with the 2015-16 season and running through the 2019-2020 campaign, WXSM-AM 640 will remain the flagship home of Buccaneer football, men’s basketball, women’s basketball, and the program’s weekly radio coaches’ shows. However, this new agreement will also add NASH 104.9 FM as an affiliate station for both football and men’s basketball.
“We are extremely pleased to renew our long-standing partnership with Cumulus Broadcasting and are excited to expand our radio reach with the addition of 104.9 NASH,” said ETSU Associate Athletic Director for Communications Michael White. “As we continue to build momentum and establish our brand both regionally and nationally, we recognize the importance of establishing strong broadcasting partnerships. The slogan for our program is Excellence Every Day, and this new contract is an example of our dedication to that goal.”
Cumulus Broadcasting General Manager Deborah Caso said this expansion of the network’s reach makes sense for both parties.
“We are excited to renew our partnership with ETSU Athletics as they move their programs to new levels,” Caso said. “The expanded reach of 104.9 will allow more listeners to enjoy ETSU athletics and we stand ready to assist ETSU in any way possible to reach its goals.”
A full broadcast schedule for the Buccaneer Sports Network presented by East Coast Wings Bar & Grill will be released in the coming weeks.
