JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Aug. 17, 2015) – The ETSU Department of Intercollegiate Athletics announced Monday that Citi has agreed to be the presenting game sponsor of the Buccaneers’ historic football game with Kennesaw State on Sept. 3 at Kermit Tipton Stadium.
The Citi Kickoff Game will feature the return of ETSU football after a 12-year absence, while Kennesaw State will also be kicking off a program for the first time in that university’s history.
“As an ETSU graduate, it is a honor to witness the return of the Blue and Gold football tradition,” said Jeff Jones, Site President of Citi in Gray, Tenn. “Citi has many employees who are either current students or former graduates of ETSU, which is just another reason Citi is very proud to sponsor the Citi Kickoff Game and ETSU Athletics. On behalf of Citi and our 1,700 employees, we hope everyone enjoys the game on Sept. 3.”
ETSU Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Dr. Richard Sander said the Buccaneers are appreciative of Citi’s support.
“We are extremely pleased to welcome this partnership and thank Citi for their generous support of our program,” Sander said. “This announcement continues to show the amount of momentum and excitement that ETSU football is creating throughout the region, and Citi’s commitment is another example of the outstanding corporate support we have received during football’s return.”
The Citi Kickoff Game will be played at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 3 at Kermit Tipton Stadium in Johnson City. For more information on the game, visit ETSUBucs.com and click on the football link.
