Football releases its Bowman Jewelers Player of the Game awards

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Oct. 5, 2015) – Following each game during the 2015 college football season, ETSU head coach Carl Torbush announces his Bowman Jewelers Offensive, Defensive and Special Teams Player of the Game, along with the Effort Play of the Game and the “Look Team” Players of the Week.  

Below are the recipients from the Saint Francis game.  

Offensive Player of the Game

Greg McCloud – OL – Nashville, Tenn.

  • Graded out at 83-percent
  • Did not allow any pressures
  • Did not commit a penalty 

Defensive Player of the Game

Tremond Ferrell – DL – Washington, Ga.

  • Finished with four tackles
  • Was very physical inside on the run game
  • Graded out at 79-percent  

Special Teams Player of the Game

Domenique Williams – KR/DB – Charlotte, N.C.

  • Recorded 174 return yards
  • Posted his longest return of the season with a pair of 43-yard returns
  • Averaged 24.9 yards per return 

Effort Play of the Game

Red-Freshman offensive lineman Matt Brewer (Knoxville, Tenn.) hustled 20 yards down field to tackle Lorenzo Jerome following a 45-yard interception return in the first quarter. 

This week Coach Torbush and the Buccaneer coaching staff recognized Garrett Curtis (Knoxville, Tenn.) and Haddon Hill (Knoxville, Tenn.) as the “Look Team Players of the Week.” Curtis is a 6-foot-2, 310-pound freshman offensive lineman and Hill is a 6-foot-1, 220-pound freshman linebacker. Both Curtis and Hill played for high school coach and ETSU letterman Wes Jones at Hardin Valley Academy. 

ABOUT CURTIS

A four-year letterman at Hardin Valley Academy … A two-time all-region performer … Named Hardin Valley Academy’s 2015 Lineman of the Year. 

ABOUT HILL

Played four years of football at Hardin Valley Academy … Was an all-region selection his senior season, while earning Defensive Player of the Year honors … Finished the year with 101 total tackles, three sacks and 42 solo stops.
