JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Oct. 21, 2015) – The ETSU Department of Intercollegiate Athletics announced Wednesday plans to make the Halloween holiday even more festive for fans of Buccaneer football when the team hosts Warner University on Saturday, Oct. 31.

Children 12-and-under who wear their Halloween costumes to the game will receive a free ticket to the contest with a paying adult thanks to sponsorship from Just Jump of Johnson City. In addition, tailgaters are encouraged to participate in a special “trunk or treat” in the parking lots surrounding Kermit Tipton Stadium to help celebrate the Halloween holiday, and ETSU cheeerleaders will be tossing candy to the crowd during the game.

ETSU students are also asked to wear costumes to the game to participate in a special contest at halftime. Five students will be chosen to participate on the field and be judged on their costumes. The winner will receive a special ETSU Nike gear prize pack.

“It’s a rare occasion to play on the same day as Halloween, so we wanted to embrace the fun of the celebration at our game that afternoon,” said ETSU Senior Associate Athletic Director/COO Scott Carter. “We hope to see children enjoying themselves and getting into the Halloween fun.”
