JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Aug. 16, 2016) – ETSU sophomore kicker JJ Jerman (Seymour, Tenn.) was one of 27 place-kickers named to the Fred Mitchell Award Watch List, which was announced by the committee members on Tuesday.
Jerman, who led ETSU in scoring with 46 points last season, was 22-for-22 in extra-points and 8-of-13 in field goals made in 2015. The Seymour, Tenn. native, made all three field goal attempts in his first collegiate game against Kennesaw State – including a season-long 46-yard field goal – while also going 3-for-3 in field goal attempts at Robert Morris. The three field goals were tied for the second-most made in ETSU history. Jerman also averaged 56 yards per kickoff – 25 kickoffs for 1,399 yards – and totaled two touchbacks. Off the field, Jerman was named to the Southern Conference Academic Honor Roll, along with volunteering his time with community service events such as ETSU’s “A Buccaneer Christmas” event, Habitat for Humanity, and the Boys and Girls Club.
Jerman was one of 12 FCS players placed on the watch list, while he and Chattanooga’s Henrique Ribeiro were the two SoCon representatives.
