JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. Below are the recipients from Saturday’s week one win at Kennesaw State.

Sophomore wide receiver Dalton Ponchillia (Nasvhille, Tenn.) and defensive lineman Nasir Player (Columbia, S.C.) earned the co-Effort Plays of the Game on Saturday.

Ponchillia’s plays of the game were his pair of catches that put the Bucs on the 1-yard line … The first catch was a 20-yard reception on 2nd-and-9 from the KSU 21-yard line in the third quarter where the officials first ruled the play a touchdown; however, after reviewing the play the officials ruled Ponchillia’s knee was down before he crossed the goal line … That catch eventually set up a 1-yard touchdown run for Jajuan Stinson (Knoxville, Tenn.) … Ponchillia’s second play came in the first overtime where he took a 2nd-and-20 play from the KSU 35 for 34 yards to the goal line – setting up Herink’s 1-yard score.

Nasir Player’s effort play of the game came on a quick pitch to Chaston Bennett where the Buccaneer defensive end chased down the quick pitch to the senior running back for a loss of three yards in the second quarter.

Junior defensive back Daren Ardis (Bradenton, Fla.) was awarded the Impact Play of the Game … With 5:42 remaining in the fourth quarter and the score knotted at 10, Kennesaw State started its drive at the 1-yard line and drove to its 47-yard line where Ardis forced Myles White to fumble the ball on a 1st-and-10 run, resulting in Dylan Weigel (Pickerington, Ohio) recovering the ball and putting a halt on the drive.
